    Food Services of America, a dynamic, growing, and privately-held food distribution organization has an immediate opening for an experienced Procurement Specialist/Lead Buyer.

    • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for the entire procurement team.
    • Attend procurement conference calls and oversee training with branch buyers and demand planners.
    • Collaborate with other departments to find new ways to improve communication and cooperation with the goal of providing our customers the best service possible.
    • Monitor and follow through on planning for seasonal business and one-time events. 
    • Leverage problem solving skills and develop counter-measures to implement long-term soluations to identified problems
    • Coordinate inventory management for new customers or lost business.
    • Be prepared to purchase for any buying desk in the department at any time including vacation relief.
    • Performs purchasing/buying duties by analyzing inventory requirements and placing purchase orders for product items in assigned categories.
    • Assist associates with problems or issues they are unable to resolve themselves.
    • Represent procurement department on interdepartmental projects and committees.
    • Support implementation of proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures and systems
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • 2+ years of foodservice procurement experience required, or related work within FSA/SGA required.
    • In depth understanding of procurement processes, both theoretical and practical required.
    • Extensive knowledge of Evant/DPR or other similar procurement system preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and OneNote).
    • Superior oral and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation skills.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize workload required.
    • Must be customer focused and able to provide excellent service for internal and external customers.
    • Must have the ability to work well with all levels of customers and associates.
    • Strong analytical skills, proven ability to use data and analytics to develop insights.
    • Able to take direction, work independently, and perform detailed work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; handle multiple projects simultaneously; and ensure tasks are completed and deadlines are met as required.
    • Understanding of supply chain, especially logistics and warehousing helpful.
    • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test.
    • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
