  • Overview

    Leads the Shipping, Receiving, Quality Assurance, and Facility operations teams. Works closely with department heads within the operating unit.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct Warehousing functions to achieve budgeted profit results and other financial criteria and to preserve capital funds invested in facilities and equipment.
    • Improve Warehouse efficiencies, implementing best practice, manages expenses, uses disciples of eliminating waste and leads continuous improvements.
    • Appraise and evaluate results of overall operations regularly and systematically and report these results to the VP of Operations.
    • Prepare and recommend annual Warehouse budget. Monitor actual expenses and manage operations within established budget goals.
    • Select, train, evaluate and develop direct report manager(s)/supervisors to ensure achievement of individual and branch performance goals.
    • Perform all administrative duties including payroll, time reporting, and conformance to all company policies and procedures.
    • Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and government and Bargaining Unit contractual agreements in accordance with all laws and the Guiding Principles.
    • Prepare long-range plans by reviewing current and future customer needs and matching department projects and focus to meet those needs.
    • Ensure sound working relationships within the department and with other departments and corporate staff through effective communications with associates and managers. Set priorities and requirements to help develop plans of action. Communicate resolutions of plans, plans of action, priorities, and deadlines. Monitor and follow up on results.
    • Perform employee relations functions by meeting with Operations associates and unions to resolve any problems as they occur and to help prevent future problems.
    • Engage and Develop Associates- Ability to build trust and guide Associates toward being fully involved in and passionate about their work and career, which translates into discretionary effort for SGA.
    • Oversee procurement equipment by meeting with suppliers and Operations managers to establish specifications, price, and scheduling to maximize investment on capital goods and minimize expenses.
    • Oversee daily movement of products to ensure effective selection and loading of customer orders and timely delivery.
    • Monitor inventory control by reviewing receiving and shipping problems to minimize the impact of write downs and support the inventory process.
    • Review organization and staffing plans to ensure that they are consistent and adequate for attainment of Warehouse Department objectives.
    • Lead Facility teams in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the facility and grounds.
    • Lead Quality Assurance team in Food Safety, inventory management, adhering to policy and procedures by protecting healthy and wholesome food product to have a sound food safety platform such as Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) in place.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Logistics preferred or the equivalent in industry experience.
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Five (5) to ten (10) years of distribution experience with emphasis in warehousing.
    • Experience in labor relations and financial management preferred.
    • Ability to work with computer programs associated with the performance of the position.
    • Good oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with all levels of the organization, to organize, prioritize, negotiate, manage, motive others and solve problems.
    • Proven track record in operating a successful team
    • Strong Customer Service orientation

    • Constant sitting for prolonged periods while performing desktop activities and/or traveling.
    • Constant use of both hands/arms simultaneously reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while performing desktop activities, handling paperwork.
    • Frequent bending at waist/knees to and from seated position.
    • Frequent squat/kneeling, walking, sitting, retrieving materials from lower areas.
    • Occasional lift/carrying typically less than 20 lbs., can be up to 50 lbs., normal office supplies, equipment, higher weights due to occasional emergency product deliveries to customers.
    • Constant use of sight, hearing and speech abilities in performance of essential job functions required.
    • Frequent extreme temperatures in freezer and refrigerated areas.
    • Frequent contact with moving equipment.

    • Able to organize/prioritize and possess self-motivation to meet daily demands, fast pace, heavy volume.
