  • Overview

    The primary responsibility of the Returns Desk Associate is to provide a control point for all customer returned product, including Will Call and Shuttle Returns. This position requires the associate to maintain the quality and integrity of the inventory by physically inspecting all customer returned product in order to accept or reject product based upon company policy.  Assigns appropriate credit codes, which can affect inventory balances, and will affect general ledger accounting. These codes will be assigned according to company policy.  This position also requires the associate to maintain integrity of the warehouse physical inventory through physical counts and the ability to research inventory transactions utilizing inventory systems.  Associate must enter and correct adjustments as needed to support accurate financial reporting.



    Maintain customer returns desk

    • Verify product returned from customers against documentation and/or system
      • All documentation has appropriate authorization
    • Quality Assurance
      • Product Inspection
        • Inspect all returned products for quality and dates.
        • Notify appropriate Quality and Inventory Associate along with Buyer of any quality issue and/or any product or customer return trends
      • Food Safety and regulatory compliance
        • Adhere to quality compliance programs, policies, and procedures including HAACP, FDA, etc.
    • Credit Codes Review and Assignment
      • Review and assign credit codes to product and make necessary changes to return documentation based on company approved policies
    • System Maintenance
      • Ensure product inventory system is maintained with correct information as product is returned to stock.
      • Ensure product to be dumped is separated from re-stockable product and tagged appropriately.
      • Maintain inventory accuracy utilizing exception and preventative control methods
    • Cycle Counting
      • Verify physical inventory counts of products through cycle counts of assigned aisles utilizing warehouse management system
    • Warehouse Short Report
      • Verify physical inventory using the warehouse short report, inspecting each location to verify the stock is out.
      • Vendor Discrepancies
    • Enter appropriate system item adjustment and vendor billing for returned product
    • Temperature Monitoring
    • Download the data from TempTale Devices via the Coldstream software
    • Collect the TempTale devices and mail back to Sensitech
    • Operations and Procurement Reporting
    • Query and email Daily Spoilage and Damage records to Operations, Marketing and Procurement
    • Other duties as assigned.




    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • 2 years of experience in food distribution industry, preferred.
    • 2 years of experience of production qualify inspection, preferred
    • 2 years of inventory control, preferred
    • Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred
    • ERP/WMS experience preferred
    • Must be able to work with multiple types of personalities in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
    • HACCP and ServSafe Certifications preferred
