  • Overview

    The Enterprise Senior Project Manager is responsible for delivering complex program portfolios across organizational boundaries where there are significant benefits and risks at stake. A Senior Project Manager focuses on delivering high quality customer service and support to project teams. A Senior Project Manager works directly with the PMO (Project Management Office) Manager, Initiative Leaders, and Initiative Teams throughout our organization to create repeatable project management practices that fit into our organizational culture. 

     

     

    A Senior Project Manager directs and guides Project Coordinators and works with project managers to cultivate an understanding within the PMO, of how to leverage project teams to ensure work is completed while focusing on the necessary responsibilities of Project Management. Identifying requirements, addressing Stakeholder’s needs, and ensuring project deliverables are appropriately met and managed, are also tasks necessary for a Senior Project Manager. In addition, the Senior Project Manager will lead the introduction of new project processes and ensure that strategic projects are set up to align with business strategy. Furthermore, a Senior Project Manager will monitor the entire enterprise of existing project schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource constraints, while effectively communicating to the executive leadership team, resource managers, and project teams. A Senior Project Manager can accomplish these tasks by remaining on the forefront of emerging project management and industry practices and by championing a commitment to continuous learning and personal development throughout the enterprise.

    Responsibilities

    Strategy & Planning

    • Recommending the cancellation of projects and the initiating of new projects all within existing programs.
    • Involved in the end-to-end management of projects.
    • Influencing program roadmaps and technical teams.
    • Train and develop project staff.
    • Manage large scale projects while following appropriate project management methodologies.
    • Have a high degree of technical expertise – ability to communicate to technical audiences.
    • Focus on Agile and/or Lean methodology in project design and requirement solicitation.
    • Clear understanding and expertise utilizing change management techniques.
    • Ability to manage several projects with shifting priorities as appropriate.
    • Keeps PMO Manager and Core IT Leadership team well informed of all project successes and challenges.
    • Appropriately balances resource accountability of project requirements and communicates constraints to resource managers.
    • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
    • Facilitates meetings effectively.
    • Provides regular status updates to the project team.
    • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen vendor relationships.
    • Balances competing project constraints such as: Scope, Quality, Schedule, Budget, Resources, and Risks.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to assimilate large amounts of information and present it in a concise and structured way to aid key decision making.
    • Flexible, calm under pressure, highly communicative, and comfortable taking ownership in ambiguous situations.
    • Track record of successful integration across multiple and complex technologies, methodologies, and systems.
    • A readiness to change and a strong motivation to drive improvement.
    • Identifies road blocks and navigates a path through them.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project software including setup and administration.
    • 3+ years Project Management experience.
    • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or Prince2 Certification or equivalent work experience is required.
    • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or equivalent work experience is required.
    • Positive attitude and strong ability to work in a team environment. Understand objectivity while remaining open to others' ideas and exhibit willingness for change.
    • Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment and comfortable with shifting priorities.
    • Ability to envision the ultimate goal (big picture) while focusing on the details.
    • Organization and efficiency - must plan work activities and use time efficiently.
    • Aptitude to learn industry terminology and products.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively communicate in a professional environment.
    • Must be able to maintain productivity working independently or in a team environment.
    • Provide outstanding customer service-always.
    • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

    Team Culture

    • Takes specific action to foster a sense of teamwork and collaboration between Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and among all project teams and leadership groups as well.
    • This position is in our Scottsdale Corporate Center; however, we work in a “Virtual Office” environment with some of our IT associates. This Virtual Office team collaborates using tools like Skype for Business and webcams.
    • The IT team also makes use of daily Status Reports and time tracking tools such as Microsoft Project and Zendesk.
    • Senior Project Manager may be required to occasionally travel to one of our Operating Units to work on projects or with associates.
