Support truck shop operation by assisting the Lead Mechanic with less technical tasks. Undergo training to perform proper maintenance of trucks, trailers, and support equipment.  Assist in washing equipment and making minor repairs as needed to see that the equipment is ready and in safe condition.


  • Computer entry of work orders and parts invoices
  • Answer phone and direct calls. 
  • Repair equipment lighting to include broken lamps and lenses. 
  • Drive light-duty pick-up truck to run for parts.  
  • Train on more advanced mechanical repair as time permits. 
  • Perform housekeeping duties. Clean work area to maintain a safe and clean work environment. 
  • Wash equipment with power washer, to include truck-tractors, tractor-trailers, converter gear, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Shop experience or equivalent helpful but not necessary
  • Computer abilities required for the use of software to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) as well as the ability to enter work orders and invoices for appropriate tracking
  • Ability to work well with all levels of associates, to organize and prioritize workload, and to follow directions.
  • Valid Driver License required. CDL is not required at time of hire but company will assist candidate in attaining a Class A CDL for the purpose of moving and transporting equipment.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test


  • Frequent lifting, normally 10-50lbs, with occasional lifting up to 100lbs while performing shop clean-up
  • Constant use of both hands/arms while reaching/handling/grasping
  • Frequent push/pull force 10-30 lbs
  • Frequent bend/twist at waist/knees/neck
  • Frequent stand/walk throughout work shift
  • Occasional sitting while driving; frequent climbing in/out of truck cabs
  • Occasional ladder climbing 6-8 feet


  • Ability to monitor/record data
  • Attention to detail and specifications, completing precise repairs/work
  • Must be able to work independently, efficiently and organize daily duties
  • Must be able to communicated with supervisor and other workers and record data
  • Must be able to communicate with supervisor and other workers and record data accurately and compute mathematical calculations

Work Conditions

  • Hazards include: wet, slippery oily surfaces, climbing ladders
  • Working in awkward or cramped quarters; noise, dust, gas and oil fumes, exposure to moving equipment and machinery, hazardous chemicals and products
  • Exposed to outside temperatures, constantly
  • Safety equipment required and provided
